Laboratory Supervisor (Manufacturing)

Location: UK - Presteigne; onsite laboratory role at the Teledyne Labtech manufacturing facility.

What you will do

• Supervise laboratory personnel, allocate workloads, conduct performance reviews, and provide training and technical guidance.
• Coordinate testing schedules, chemical analysis, consumables, equipment maintenance, calibration, and laboratory workflow.
• Maintain analysis logs, including Minitab and Excel databases, and ensure microsections meet in-process verification and final quality-release standards.
• Perform quality control checks and support quality, environmental, and safety compliance, including internal and external audits.
• Monitor laboratory data, identify trends and anomalies, report deviations and non-conformances, and produce customer quality-assurance reports and technical documentation.
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions while working with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Continuous Improvement teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in a laboratory environment.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills; previous supervisory, leadership, or team-management experience is preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment is highly desirable.
• Experience with laboratory databases, Minitab, Excel, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques, quality systems, and process-control methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritisation, and multitasking skills, with high attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher qualification.
• Previous supervisory, leadership, or team-management experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment.
