Team Leader - Rock Testing

Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom; on-site laboratory role, 37.5 hours per week

What you will do

• Lead and support a team of laboratory professionals, fostering inclusion, development and ownership.
• Plan and coordinate rock-testing activities, workloads, resources and equipment to deliver accurate results safely, efficiently and on time.
• Act as the technical lead for rock testing and guide colleagues, project managers, customers and other stakeholders.
• Review, validate and report technical data while ensuring customer specifications and data-integrity requirements are met.
• Maintain safety, quality and accreditation compliance, including audits, equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Coordinate with project managers and improve testing methods, operational efficiency, laboratory capability and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Practical experience in geotechnical soil or rock testing, including the technical knowledge to review, interpret and validate laboratory data.
• Experience leading, supervising or coordinating a small technical team, with an inclusive and supportive approach to coaching and development.
• Degree in Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Strong communication, numerical and organisational skills, with careful attention to safety, quality and detail.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of relevant rock-testing and logging standards.
• Professional membership or progress towards chartership.
• Experience using Microsoft 365, Excel or a Laboratory Information Management System.
