Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden; hybrid, primarily based at the Stockholm office

hirify.global is a growing credit and financial services company transitioning into a bank and building an AI-native organisation focused on transparent, flexible lending.

What you will do

• Lead the architectural redesign and hands-on rebuilding of the Snowflake data platform, including simplified data models and scalable data layers.
• Build reliable, accessible, AI-ready data foundations for insights, automation, and future AI-powered products and workflows.
• Establish data governance covering quality, ownership, documentation, access management, and development standards.
• Implement data quality monitoring and automated testing in dbt to improve accuracy, consistency, discoverability, and trust.
• Enable self-service data use across Engineering, Product, Risk, Finance, and the wider business.
• Explore AI-assisted approaches to designing, developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining the data platform while driving cross-functional change.

Requirements

• Significant data engineering experience, including designing, rebuilding, or substantially improving complex data warehouses or platforms.
• Expert-level proficiency in dbt and experience building, testing, and maintaining complex, scalable data models.
• Deep Snowflake expertise covering architecture, data modelling, performance optimisation, and long-term scalability.
• Familiarity with modern data pipelines, orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, and change data capture (CDC).
• Experience establishing data quality and governance foundations.
• Curiosity and initiative in applying AI to data engineering and making data more accessible and actionable.
• Ability to connect data engineering with business outcomes, challenge existing solutions, take ownership, and drive initiatives.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences and fluent English as the shared working language.

Nice to have

• Experience building data foundations for AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
• Familiarity with modern AI tools, LLMs, or AI-assisted data engineering workflows.
• Experience with data cataloguing, metadata management, and data observability tools.
• Experience in fintech, banking, or other regulated industries.
• Experience establishing structures, standards, and ways of working in a fast-growing organisation.
