Director Frontend Engineer (AI)

Location: Germany (remote), with locations in Berlin and Stuttgart; flexible work from home or the office. A German work permit and at least one year of onsite work experience in Germany are required.

What you will do

• Build modern, high-performance web interfaces for complex applications.
• Translate UX/UI concepts into scalable, responsive frontend architectures and reusable component systems.
• Design intuitive interfaces for complex AI- and agent-driven systems.
• Use React, TypeScript, WebComponents, Storybook, Docker, GitHub Copilot, JavaScript, and CSS to develop performant interfaces and animations.
• Develop and integrate APIs for data- and AI-driven applications while reducing system complexity.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, AI Engineers, and Solution Architects; contribute to RFPs, pitches, and interactive prototypes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of practical experience in commercial projects.
• Very strong TypeScript knowledge and frontend framework experience, such as React or similar.
• Practical knowledge of WebComponents based on the StencilJS library.
• Experience documenting component libraries with Storybook.
• Experience using AI coding tools responsibly.
• Experience communicating technically with customer stakeholders, including solution architects, technical leads, and engineering teams.
• Ability to explain technical concepts, architectural decisions, and implementation details to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience mentoring Frontend Engineering Team members and familiarity with agile processes such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Very good German and English language skills at C1+ level; a German work permit and at least one year of onsite work in Germany are required.
