Data Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland; the role will move to Baar in 2030

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on Snowflake using dbt.
• Develop Data Vault models, including Hubs, Links, Satellites, and Business Vault components, with robust historization and temporal modeling.
• Create reusable business objects and data products for enterprise reporting, analytics, regulatory requirements, and data-driven decision-making.
• Integrate data from diverse source systems into a centralized data platform and apply metadata-driven development.
• Ensure data quality, traceability, lineage, governance, performance, maintainability, and cost efficiency across the data lifecycle.
• Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing, DataOps, engineering standards, architecture patterns, and knowledge sharing in a multi-team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, or in a similar role.
• Expert SQL skills and the ability to create efficient, maintainable data flows in complex data environments.
• Deep understanding of data historization, including business, technical, and load-time timelines, bi-temporal and multi-temporal modeling, and related algorithms.
• Good knowledge of Data Vault, dimensional modeling, and enterprise data warehousing principles.
• Thorough dbt experience, including model development and testing, CI topics, custom materializations, and macros.
• Hands-on experience with pandas and dataframe-based processing, plus Snowpark expertise for scalable data transformations and analytical workflows.
• Experience with modern cloud data platform architectures such as Snowflake or Databricks.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, automated data testing, data quality management, data governance, and metadata management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work with technical and business stakeholders.
• Affinity for AI and willingness to use AI-enabled tools and ways of working.

Nice to have

• Practical software development and architecture experience with languages such as C# or Rust.
