Solution Architect (AWS)

What you will do

• Support end-to-end solution design for 7NOW and related digital commerce experiences across applications, backend services, APIs, integrations, data flows, and cloud services.
• Translate business, product, and nonfunctional requirements into technical designs, implementation guidance, and acceptance criteria.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews; document system boundaries, interfaces, dependencies, risks, and technical decisions.
• Provide reference patterns, design clarification, and implementation support to engineering teams, escalating complex decisions when needed.
• Apply security, resiliency, observability, and cost-management practices to cloud-native solutions.
• Identify technical risks, technical debt, scalability constraints, and integration gaps; contribute to proofs of concept, capacity planning, release readiness, incident reviews, and reusable architecture patterns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, application design, or solution architecture, including customer-facing or cloud-based applications.
• Working knowledge of solution architecture practices, domain modeling, design patterns, architecture decision records, and current-state and target-state documentation.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, or comparable application and integration technologies.
• Practical knowledge of AWS cloud services and distributed systems, including asynchronous processing, caching, scalability, resiliency, and high availability.
• Understanding of relational or NoSQL data technologies, data modeling, integration, performance, and consistency considerations.
• Knowledge of application and API security, including identity, authentication, authorization, OAuth, JWT, encryption, and secure coding.
• Working knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, observability, release management, and incident management.
• Ability to compare solution options, explain tradeoffs, facilitate technical discussions, collaborate across teams, work through ambiguity, and communicate clearly in writing and presentations.

Nice to have

• Experience coordinating technical work across teams; management experience is not required.
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, or CloudWatch.
• Familiarity with native iOS or Android architecture and development, including Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, or Jetpack Compose.
• Relevant cloud, security, or architecture certification.
