HRIS Specialist II (Contract) (Workday)

Location: On-site in Herndon, Virginia; Grand Prairie, Texas; Mobile, Alabama; Wichita, Kansas; or Miami, Florida. Travel: 5% domestic and international. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $45.00–$50.00 per hour, varying by geographic differential and experience.

What you will do

• Own designated HRIS modules as a functional Product Owner and tier 2 analyst, including Workday HCM, Compensation, Benefits, and Time & Absence Management.
• Gather and translate business needs into prioritized user stories, functional requirements, process maps, and product backlog items.
• Diagnose system defects, user errors, and integration issues while coordinating technical resolutions with IT and software vendors.
• Lead HRIS implementations, upgrades, tenant rollouts, feature releases, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Define testing strategies, coordinate regression testing and UAT, and validate end-to-end integrations.
• Create SOPs, job aids, workflows, release notes, and training for HR teams, managers, and employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of relevant work experience, including 3+ years with the Workday HCM Suite.
• Experience with Workday HCM Suite and/or Dayforce.
• Extensive full HCM lifecycle experience across employee shared services, HR master data, payroll, compensation, absence management, time management, and benefits.
• Strong HR functional and technical knowledge, including experience supporting HCM-related modules and functionality.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to translate complex system functionality for non-technical stakeholders and communicate business impact to technical partners.
• Strong interpersonal, prioritization, problem-solving, project management, leadership, listening, customer service, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and complete projects with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery, change management principles, and enterprise IT governance frameworks.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, or Business Administration, or specialized project management coursework.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, HRIS, PMP, CAPM, CSPO, or PMI certification.
• Experience with organizational administration tools and systems.
