Fire Engineering Manager

Location: Remote or onsite in Los Angeles, Lenexa, Las Vegas, Nashville, Phoenix, Plano, Houston, Philadelphia, Denver, New York City, Bentonville, or Kansas City, United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, mentor, and develop engineers and designers within the Community/Health sector.
• Coordinate staffing, schedules, resources, budgets, quality reviews, and project delivery.
• Lead fire engineering and design efforts from concept through completion, including complex system layouts, drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Review shop drawings, evaluate systems and products, and resolve complex engineering and design challenges.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Visit job sites, verify existing conditions, observe construction progress, and support Engineer of Record responsibilities where enabled.

Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of relevant progressive experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required; a relevant engineering bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Expert knowledge of engineering design, the A&E industry, applicable codes, design guides, and standards across a broad range of practices and project types.
• Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, construction processes, and construction methods.
• Working knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu; proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable engineering design software.
• Strong team leadership, mentoring, career coaching, performance-feedback, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
• High emotional intelligence; ability to lead with empathy and clarity and handle performance conversations constructively.
• Effective written and verbal communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, adaptability, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to teach, manage, support less experienced designers, handle sensitive information, and work proactively in a changing environment.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineering license.
• Relevant certifications such as BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, or RCDD.
• Experience serving as an Engineer of Record.
