Principal Informatics Architect (Scientific Data)

What you will do

• Co-design and build service-oriented components for ingesting, abstracting, curating, publishing, versioning, governing, and distributing semantic resources.
• Develop ETL pipelines that lift instance-level data into formal vocabularies while preserving complex relationships, properties, and constraints.
• Build services that project formal semantic meaning across the Tetra ecosystem and support a continuously evolving ontology.
• Develop systems for vocabulary lifecycle management, including versioning, deprecation, and migration across the customer base.
• Design data-exchange protocols and mapping logic that enable syntactic and semantic interoperability between platform components.
• Partner with scientific data engineers, architects, and business leads while providing subject-matter expertise, coaching, and training on semantic governance.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Informatics, Clinical/Health/Bio/Chemi Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent formal academic training.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including production code, SDLC, CI/CD, and testing patterns.
• Experience developing and exchanging data in Common Data Models, including building or significantly extending models such as FHIR, OMOP, Allotrope, or CDISC.
• Demonstrated experience with Service-Oriented Architecture or microservices, including data consistency and contract evolution in distributed systems.
• Experience with formal vocabularies and ontologies such as OBO, CDISC Vocabulary Standards, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, or BioPortal Distributed Ontologies, including normalization of local terms to semantic standards.
• Experience managing and leading company-wide migrations and reference architecture implementations.
• Working knowledge of semantic artifact formats and languages including OBO, OWL, and SPARQL, as well as APIs, data constructs, object-oriented programming, and Git.
• Informatics-level modeling expertise covering cardinality, semantic properties, relationships, and formal entity modeling.
• Knowledge of translational formal terminologies and semantic standards, including FHIR Module 4, ISO 17117, SKOS, and OWL.
