Senior Director, Associate General Counsel, IP & Litigation (Software)

Location: San Francisco or New York; in-office attendance three days per week strongly preferred. Periodic travel to key hubs and events; travel up to approximately 15%.

Base salary range: $233,600–$350,400 in Zone A, $264,000–$396,000 in Zone B, or $311,400–$467,200 in Zone C, depending on primary work location.

What you will do

• Lead hirify.global’s global intellectual property strategy across patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, enforcement, defense, open source, licensing, and M&A due diligence.
• Develop and manage IP portfolios, invention harvesting, patent prosecution, trade secret protection, trademark enforcement, and copyright risk assessment.
• Lead IP disputes and worldwide non-employment litigation, arbitration, and investigations from pre-suit assessment through resolution.
• Manage outside counsel, litigation strategy, discovery, motion practice, trials, appeals, settlements, budgets, staffing, and the litigation docket.
• Oversee litigation holds, e-discovery, preservation, privilege protocols, case reporting, reserves, insurance, disclosures, and communications with Finance, the Board, and executive leadership.
• Prepare legal training, manage the litigation budget, and lead and develop a team of legal professionals.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience, including leadership of IP strategy involving patents, trademarks, and/or copyrights and complex litigation in a global organization or law firm.
• JD from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar.
• Experience managing complex IP and commercial disputes through all stages, including trial or appellate exposure, and directing outside counsel.
• Experience with IP enforcement, defense, litigation management, and risk mitigation in an advertising technology or software environment.
• Experience with IP strategies and issues relating to generative artificial intelligence.
• Professional verbal and written English sufficient for frequent and regular communication with colleagues and partners worldwide.
• Work visa or immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
• Experience managing a broad litigation docket across commercial, securities, privacy or consumer, and regulatory matters.
• Experience with a public company, including securities litigation and related disclosure and insurance considerations.
