Director, Intellectual Property (AI)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $266,000–$418,000 USD per year, plus potential equity and other compensation depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Define and evolve Reddit’s worldwide IP litigation strategy in line with product roadmaps, market positioning, risk profile, and business goals.
• Oversee the global IP portfolio and align it with business priorities and competitive differentiation.
• Shape international litigation and strategic responses to emerging and novel intellectual property matters.
• Translate complex competitive IP landscapes into actionable recommendations.
• Advise engineering, product, and legal partners on copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret matters.
• Collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel to mitigate IP risk, protect Reddit’s brand and innovations, and build the patent portfolio.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree, strong academic background, and a current license in a United States state bar.
• 10+ years of experience as an IP litigator.
• Experience with copyright, patent, trademark, and trade secret law.
• Experience leading complex IP matters, including copyright litigation, patent litigation, licensing negotiations, and portfolio development.
• Strategic problem-solving, risk assessment, negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning, web technologies, social products and platforms, or mobile technology is strongly preferred.
