TL;DR
Project Engineer II - Automation (Automation/Power Systems): Designing, integrating, validating, installing, commissioning, and operating automation and protection systems for electric power applications with an accent on industrial controls, PLCs, communications protocols, and SCADA practices. Focus on leading complex customer projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality, and developing engineering staff while traveling domestically and internationally.

What you will do
- Apply electric power system and automation knowledge to complete complex assignments using SEL products.
- Lead customers through the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
- Assign, complete, and implement work within agreed scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining quality and safety.
- Assist with proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
- Mentor and develop professional staff and supervise as needed.
- Apply SEL values, operating principles, and World Class Manufacturing principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and focus-area practices and philosophies.
- Knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation, communications applications, system design, studies, information and communication technology, and protective relay applications.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% of the time, depending on the focus area.
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
- Ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Satisfactory background-check results and negative drug-test results are required.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
- Experience in electrical utilities, industrial plants, consulting engineering, or system integration.
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of Vision or another project-management tracking system.
