Commercial Credit Senior Associate - CRE

What you will do

• Execute commercial credit transactions and manage loan portfolios from deal screening and underwriting through approval, modification, renewal, and the life of the loan.
• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, due diligence reports, appraisals, credit bureau data, industry research, peer data, and internal credit information.
• Prepare credit analyses, financial models, cash-flow and collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, guarantor statement analyses, and risk ratings.
• Monitor ongoing portfolio risk through annual reviews, interim updates, covenant monitoring, problem-loan management, early-warning indicators, and other credit surveillance.
• Recommend transaction structures, terms, conditions, controls, collateral, guarantors, and risk mitigants; present analysis and address questions during credit discussions and committee presentations.
• Partner with relationship managers, credit analysts, clients, and internal stakeholders; identify suspicious activity, escalate risk issues, support audits, and train junior or newly hired analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field and 5 years of experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation and analysis, or other financial analysis.
• In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years of higher education and work experience, including 5 years in the specified credit or financial analysis areas.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, credit-metric analysis, financial-ratio calculation and interpretation, and trend analysis.
• Emerging proficiency in understanding and negotiating legal documentation, structural analysis, and independently structuring transactions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively; customer focus and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to follow commercial credit policy, risk and regulatory standards, internal controls, and the company’s risk appetite.

• Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, and Bloomberg.
