MAIT Electrical and Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany; willingness to travel worldwide for test and launch campaigns. Relocation assistance, including visa sponsorship where applicable, is provided for candidates willing to relocate.

The Exploration Company develops, produces, and operates Nyx, a modular and reusable orbital spacecraft designed to carry cargo and potentially humans.

What you will do

• Define electrical test equipment and functional test needs for flight hardware, engineering models, and test beds.
• Translate system and subsystem requirements into traceable test procedures, sequences, acceptance criteria, and pass/fail objectives.
• Design, build, integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical test equipment, instrumentation, cabling, interfaces, and related software.
• Develop automated functional-test software, scripts, and data acquisition using LabVIEW and/or VeriStand.
• Prepare test documentation, including schematics, interface definitions, procedures, results, and verification evidence.
• Perform unit-, subsystem-, and system-level tests; analyze results, resolve anomalies and non-conformances, manufacture and assemble equipment, and participate in environmental tests and launch campaigns.

Requirements

• Degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a comparable qualification.
• Practical experience with electrical/electronic components and systems, ideally in spacecraft AIT or functional verification.
• Experience developing functional tests from requirements, including procedures, acceptance criteria, traceability, and test-data review.
• Experience with electrical design and integration of test equipment, including instrumentation, cabling, connectors, power interfaces, and signal interfaces.
• Experience physically assembling test equipment, including building racks and routing cables.
• Familiarity with network configuration and TCP/IP protocols used by test systems.
• Ability to develop software for test equipment and automated functional tests in LabVIEW and/or VeriStand, plus experience with data acquisition, test automation, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply technical manuals, data reports, electrical schematics, and design specifications.
• Willingness to work hands-on with flight hardware, solve technical problems, maintain a responsible and organized working style, and travel worldwide for test and launch campaigns.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or similar programming languages.
• Exposure to Mission Control Software platforms such as CCS5 or COSMOS; COSMOS experience is a plus.
• Experience with communication and power test equipment.
