Engineering Manager (Cybersecurity)

Location: US, Remote

Base salary: $225,000–$265,000 annually, plus equity in the form of stock options.

hirify.global is a remote cybersecurity company developing NodeZero, a platform for production-safe autonomous penetration testing and security assessment operations across internal, external, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and grow backend engineers and security practitioners working on firewall validation, effectiveness, and tuning.
• Turn firewall workflows and offensive security findings into buildable requirements and usable product capabilities.
• Partner with a Staff-level Technical Lead on architecture, Product on roadmap sequencing, and engineering leaders across the organization.
• Translate ambiguous goals into sequenced deliverables, actively manage scope, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.
• Provide technical leadership by evaluating designs, challenging estimates and assumptions, and unblocking the team without serving as the primary implementer.
• Establish design review, release, on-call, and incident response practices.

Requirements

• Familiarity with firewall or network security sufficient to partner effectively with domain experts.
• Proven experience leading highly technical backend or platform engineering teams, ideally in SaaS, cybersecurity, or cloud-scale environments.
• Experience delivering products under fixed deadlines with ambiguous requirements and actively managed scope.
• Strong dependency and stakeholder management across multiple engineering teams, including early written communication of risks and tradeoffs.
• Understanding of security and reliability best practices in multi-tenant SaaS.
• Experience partnering with a Staff-level Technical Lead and distinguishing management responsibilities from technical ownership.
• Ability to maintain quality and safety standards under schedule pressure and escalate scope tradeoffs.

Nice to have

• Working familiarity with enterprise firewall platforms such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco, or Check Point; hands-on platform or integration experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with agentic or LLM-backed systems in production and their failure modes.
• Background in security operations, detection engineering, or offensive security.
• Experience leading a platform team serving other internal engineering teams.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures or streaming platforms such as Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, or Flink.
