Global Customs Compliance Manager (International Trade)

Location: Hybrid role for candidates based within commuting distance of Parsippany, NJ; Northlake, IL; or Cincinnati, Ohio. Travel requirement: 15–20%.

Base pay: $135,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead and harmonize customs compliance programs across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific business units.
• Manage customs brokers, external customs providers, and third-party logistics partners, including service-level agreements, business reviews, and performance improvement.
• Standardize customs procedures and lead process improvement, systems optimization, and transformation initiatives.
• Govern tariff classification, country-of-origin documentation, free trade agreement qualification, denied-party screening, embargo and sanctions controls, and manufacturing affidavits.
• Use customs, duty, freight, and transactional data to identify compliance risks, duty savings, cost reductions, and operational improvements.
• Partner with supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, IT, finance, and commercial teams; report performance and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive customs compliance and international trade experience within a global manufacturing or chemical organization.
• Experience managing global customs compliance programs across multiple regions and jurisdictions.
• Experience managing customs brokers, trade service providers, and third-party logistics partners, including service-level agreements and performance metrics.
• Experience with import/export compliance, tariff classification, country-of-origin determination, duty optimization, and trade agreement utilization.
• Strong analytical skills using operational and compliance data to identify risks, business and financial impacts, cost-reduction opportunities, and mitigation plans.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders across supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, IT, finance, and commercial functions.
• Experience with SAP and other customs, trade management, or transportation management systems.
