Principal Technical Consultant (Operational Technology, Network Security)

Location: United States; remote. Travel to client sites as engagements require.

Salary: $180,000–$195,000 per year in on-target earnings, including base salary and any applicable target bonus.

What you will do

• Lead OT assessments, strategy engagements, and SRDP workstreams as the primary technical lead.
• Facilitate discovery workshops, site visits, technical deep dives, and executive working sessions using safe, non-disruptive approaches.
• Assess industrial assets, networks, control systems, dependencies, ownership, maturity, risks, lifecycle concerns, and operational constraints.
• Analyze PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, historian, MES, safety-system, edge, and IT/OT connectivity architectures.
• Develop architecture views, maturity assessments, findings, prioritized roadmaps, and executive presentations.
• Lead and mentor technical teams, coordinate delivery, support proposals, and contribute reusable OT methods and thought leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years delivering complex technology, cybersecurity, network, or engineering solutions, including significant OT or ICS experience.
• Experience leading OT or ICS assessments, architecture, segmentation, cybersecurity, or modernization engagements.
• Strong understanding of control-system architectures and industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or OPC UA.
• Strong OT networking and security expertise covering routing and switching, firewalls, industrial DMZs, segmentation, remote access, identity, and monitoring.
• Ability to evaluate technical decisions against safety, availability, performance, maintenance windows, production continuity, and long OT lifecycles.
• Experience producing architecture diagrams, maturity assessments, prioritized roadmaps, executive presentations, and facilitating workshops from plant-floor to executive stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to adapt complex material to different audiences.
• Ability to lead, delegate, review technical work, and mentor consultants.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience; willingness to travel to client sites as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISA/IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82, NIST CSF, NERC CIP, FDA, or other industry-specific requirements.
• Background in manufacturing, energy, utilities, water, healthcare, transportation, chemicals, or pharmaceuticals.
• Experience with OT asset discovery, passive monitoring, industrial firewalls, secure remote access, OT security operations, IT/OT convergence, edge platforms, industrial wireless, private 5G, or OT data platforms.
• Experience developing estimates, work breakdown structures, service briefs, or statements of work.
• Certifications such as GICSP, GRID, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CCNP, or CCIE.
