Global Category Leader - Direct Materials (Chemicals)

Location: Northlake, IL, US; hybrid work schedule

Salary: $137,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage regional and global sourcing categories for resins, solvents, colorants, additives, and other direct raw materials.
• Develop category strategies, lead leveraged negotiations, and align regional requirements with business and financial objectives.
• Lead cross-functional sourcing teams and contribute to other category strategies.
• Analyze supply markets, supplier economics, supply and demand, and total cost of ownership opportunities.
• Drive low-cost suppliers, make-or-buy decisions, product standardization, logistics enhancements, and working capital improvements.
• Track chemical markets, manage spend databases, monitor projects and price changes, and develop supplier contracts with legal and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of procurement responsibility, including sustainable procurement initiatives for direct raw materials, preferably in manufacturing or chemicals.
• Global procurement or sourcing experience with a record of leading change and cost reduction in cross-cultural environments.
• Experience working with EcoVadis.
• Strong oral and written communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent analytical and business acumen, including cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
