Staff NX Designer (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite position.

Salary: $137,760–$230,472 USD per year.

What you will do

• Own CAD design and drawings for thermal and life support hardware from concept through product release and manufacturing.
• Manage BOMs, mass tracking, hardware release, and subsystem interfaces; lead CAD-based design trades.
• Execute complex geometric modeling for additively manufactured hardware and release detailed designs for ECLSS subassemblies, tubing runs, component assemblies, MLI, and soft goods.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for engineering design, drafting, and modeling standards using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Establish and enforce templates, best practices, and configuration management discipline across Fluid Systems.
• Mentor designers and engineers and collaborate with manufacturing, technicians, and suppliers to ensure designs are producible, inspectable, and released on schedule.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant CAD or design experience.
• Experience working in aerospace design.
• Expert-level experience designing and managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings.
• Development and configuration management experience on technically complex hardware products.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering design and manufacturing.
• Experience with ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5, and ASME Y14.41.
• Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

Nice to have

• Experience with tube routing and complex or organic geometry for additively manufactured parts, including propulsion components.
• Experience with metallics, plastics, and soft goods such as MLI and foam assemblies.
• High-level expertise in GD&T.
• Experience establishing CAD and drafting standards and mentoring designers on a growing team.
• Strong multitasking, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work in an integrated team with technicians, engineers, and managers.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects, and adapting to abrupt strategic changes.
