Embedded Software Engineering Specialist (Automotive)

Location: Onsite five days a week in Mossville, Illinois, at the Chillicothe facility; telecommuting is not available.

Salary: $146,890–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

• Support the development of transmission software and controls within the Drivetrain Systems and Software Team.
• Provide technical leadership in designing, developing, enhancing, and implementing transmission systems, software, and procedures.
• Plan, design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize transmission software with application leads and software architects.
• Integrate common software library modules and code generated by autocode tools.
• Review peers’ software architecture and activities, and provide developer training and mentoring.
• Test and debug embedded software, perform laboratory verification and Model in the Loop testing, and identify weaknesses in finished products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Agricultural, Aerospace, Electronic, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 8 years of experience in developing and planning electronic control systems or embedded software for automotive, on-highway truck, off-highway applications, or a related occupation; alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in one of these fields plus 6 years of such experience.
• Experience developing software for real-time systems using C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, real-time operating systems, and embedded software development tools and environments.
• Experience developing embedded real-time software or systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, and off-highway applications.
• Experience applying CAN or J1939 data links for control and monitoring.
• Experience with ClearCase, Git, Diab compiler, pOSEK, MATLAB autocode generator, and Notepad++.
• Experience with control systems, transmission systems or components, and electronic components.
• Experience with Agile Software Development, Google Test, and test automation.
• Experience with code editors or code search tools, Lauterbach Debugger, ATI Vision, Vector tools, and AUTOSAR Architect.
• Travel is not required.
