Project Engineer II - Automation

Location: Colorado - Lakewood; other locations include Michigan - Plymouth, Texas - Houston, and Minnesota - Minneapolis

Salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year; the range may differ for candidates considered at a different level.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership to support Project Managers and Salesforce in planning customer applications.
• Join customer meetings and provide expertise and recommendations on SEL equipment, third-party equipment, and solutions.
• Research equipment, OT network architectures, applications data flows, and emerging technologies.
• Review and certify automation design specifications, drawings, product configurations, factory testing procedures, safety preparations, commissioning procedures, and service reports.
• Lead the project engineering team in defining deliverables, schedules, and execution from design through commissioning.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience, or equivalent past work history meeting the position description and skill requirements.
• Understanding of project engineering scope in relation to labor and equipment budgets, ownership of schedules, and self-directed research.
• Professional communication skills for serving as the direct technical contact for customers and colleagues.
• Experience designing control logic schemes and network configurations.
• Ability to analyze electrical one-line drawings, DC/AC schematics, and bills of materials.
• Experience with industry-standard communication protocols such as IEC-61850, DNP, and Modbus.
• Experience with server/client SCADA applications and HMI application design and development suites.
• Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time domestically and abroad.

Nice to have

• Phase I/O-style project management experience.
• SEL product configuration experience.
• IEC-61131 programming and Python programming experience.
• IT/OT network design and troubleshooting experience, including Wireshark.
• Substation safety training.
• Work-from-home experience.
