Project Surveyor (Land Surveying)

Location: Ontario, California, United States (Hybrid); travel between offices and project sites as needed.

Salary: $113,885–$179,385 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the licensed surveyor for assigned projects, including signing and sealing survey deliverables.
• Direct field crews and office survey staff throughout project execution and delivery.
• Perform and review complex boundary determinations, Records of Survey, legal descriptions, and exhibits.
• Provide technical oversight, QA/QC, and compliance with professional survey standards.
• Coordinate survey requirements with clients, Project Managers, and agencies.
• Mentor survey staff and support employees working toward professional licensure.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience across all phases of professional land surveying, including public mapping experience such as Records of Survey, legal descriptions, and exhibits.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in California required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of California boundary law, the Subdivision Map Act, the Land Surveyors Act, right-of-way, and applicable survey standards.
• Ability to take responsible charge of survey projects and sign and seal survey deliverables.
• Strong project-level technical leadership, client coordination, and communication skills.
• Experience directing and technically supporting field survey crews and office technicians.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of survey QA/QC processes and professional standards.
• Valid California driver’s license required.
• Ability to meet physical requirements including close vision, occasional field visits over uneven terrain, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to travel between offices and project sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Trimble Business Center, StarNet, and Carlson.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation and InRoads.
