Senior Cloud Network Engineer (Azure/AWS)

Location: Buffalo, NY, United States; hybrid schedule with four days onsite at Seneca One Buffalo and one day working from home per week

What you will do

• Design, deploy, optimize, and support cloud and hybrid networking architectures across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and multi-cloud environments.
• Build virtual networks, subnets, load balancers, DNS services, VPN gateways, dedicated connectivity, and hybrid networking solutions.
• Implement cloud-native security controls, including network security groups, cloud firewalls, DDoS protection, and related security technologies.
• Automate cloud network provisioning and lifecycle management with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, including Terraform.
• Troubleshoot incidents and performance issues using monitoring platforms, logs, packet captures, Wireshark, and diagnostic tools.
• Partner with technology leaders, engineers, stakeholders, vendors, and support teams; review designs, document architectures, mentor staff, and support compliance, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• Combined minimum of 6 years of higher education and/or work experience in systems engineering, network engineering, cloud infrastructure, architecture, or related technical disciplines.
• At least 3 years of professional experience supporting, implementing, and optimizing cloud or hybrid networking in a complex enterprise environment.
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing public cloud networking services in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar platforms.
• Experience implementing and maintaining hybrid networking with VPNs, dedicated private connectivity, and cloud-native networking technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, including Terraform.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, DNS, VPN technologies, NAT, load balancing, and network security principles.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, or similar cloud networking certification.
• Experience with Aviatrix and cloud-native automation technologies such as Azure Resource Manager, AWS CloudFormation, and/or Ansible.
• Advanced skills in cloud networking, hybrid networking, infrastructure automation, cloud security, governance, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Experience analyzing packet captures and troubleshooting complex connectivity and performance issues with tools such as Wireshark.
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and supportable networking solutions.
• Strong stakeholder communication, collaboration, influencing, organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapt to evolving cloud technologies, and learn new technologies.
