Software Development Engineer in Test (Quantum Computing)

Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid

Salary: £64,000–£76,000 per year, depending on experience

hirify.global develops quantum error-correction technology, including the open-source Deltakit Python SDK, compiler, and Deltaflow real-time quantum error-correction system.

What you will do

• Design, write, and maintain Python tests using pytest across the quantum error-correction software stack.
• Test Deltakit, the compiler front end, and other features end to end from the customer’s perspective.
• Assess whether functionality is clear and easy to use, and propose product improvements.
• Share findings with engineering and product teams and follow recommendations through to implementation.
• Work with developers to understand new features and plan their test coverage.

Requirements

• Knowledge of quantum computation and core concepts such as quantum circuits; one relevant project or experience is sufficient, including building and running circuits with a framework such as Qiskit.
• Experience as a developer working on a software or hardware product, with an interest in moving toward testing.
• Strong Python skills for working with pytest, the compiler front end, and Deltakit.
• A user-focused mindset and ability to assess how functionality appears to customers and how it can be improved.
• A track record of suggesting improvements to a product or software library.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of quantum error correction.
• Direct experience testing software or hardware.
