Graduate Software Engineer, System Software QA (AI)

Location: Bristol or Cambridge, UK. Start date: September 2027.

Salary: £45,000 per annum.

What you will do

• Validate low-level firmware, Linux kernel drivers, and platform tools for AI systems.
• Design and develop tests, investigate defects, and provide development teams with clear feedback on software quality.
• Maintain and improve continuous integration pipelines across different platforms.
• Work with System Software development teams to strengthen test-driven development and solve practical engineering problems.
• Configure hardware connections in the lab and build automation pipelines to run tests repeatedly and process results.
• Connect test findings to software improvements and explain technical issues from design through delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Maths, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience working with Linux internals and/or firmware.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Clear written and verbal communication, a collaborative and practical approach to challenging technical problems, and ownership of quality work.
• Relevant skills may be demonstrated through coursework, a dissertation, personal or team projects, research, or other relevant experience.
• Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of low-level software testing.
• Knowledge of virtualisation or hypervisor concepts.
• Knowledge of automation pipelines.
