Staff OT Engineer (Industrial Software)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite work. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Salary: $175,000–$230,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Translate operational needs into requirements, interfaces, design choices, and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Develop standards, drawings, engineering manuals, and procedures detailed enough for implementation and testing.
• Evaluate reliability, security, compatibility, recovery, maintainability, and lifecycle trade-offs.
• Resolve ambiguous or conflicting requirements and document the technical basis for consequential decisions.
• Support execution teams by answering design questions, reviewing implementation evidence, and correcting guidance gaps.
• Use commissioning, operational, and failure evidence to improve designs and standards.

Requirements

• Authorship of technical designs, standards, or procedures successfully used by implementation or operations teams.
• Ability to translate operational needs into requirements, interface definitions, engineering decisions, and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Ability to evaluate alternatives, dependencies, failure modes, security, recovery, and lifecycle consequences using evidence.
• Experience reviewing work, resolving ambiguity, guiding execution, and validating documentation against implementation and test results.
• Strong organization, disciplined task tracking, accurate documentation, clear prioritization, and reliable follow-through.
• Sound engineering judgment and precise technical writing and diagrams that enable another engineer to build and test the intended system.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one specialty: power distribution and backup; racks and cabling; compute, storage, and virtualization; industrial software backends; networking; technical documentation; Windows domain administration; access control; central logging and authentication; log and packet analysis; or operational data systems.
• Ownership of design outcomes through implementation, including revising guidance when field evidence requires changes.

• Experience developing technical standards used across multiple projects, programs, or sites.
• Hands-on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or operational support that informs practical engineering guidance.
• Experience reviewing interfaces and shared dependencies across multiple infrastructure disciplines.
