Law Clerk (Insurance Defense)

Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in Southern California, United States; automobile travel may be required for up to 20% of work time, and an in-person interview may be required.

Salary: USD $51,307–$92,353 per year. The anticipated range of pay is $45,000–$55,000.

What you will do

• Prepare initial pleadings, discovery documents, discovery responses, trial documents, motions in limine, and oppositions to motions.
• Conduct legal research and support motion practice.
• Review and summarize discovery responses, medical records, and case materials.
• Prepare case files and support attorneys throughout the litigation process.
• Investigate small-claims matters, prepare trial briefs, prepare insured parties for trial, attend trial, and defend the company when it is a named party.
• Assume other responsibilities as directed.

Requirements

• Completion of at least the second year of law school.
• Effective communication, persuasion, writing, and analytical skills.
• Completion of torts, evidence, and civil procedure is preferred.
• Must meet established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status.
• Must reside in the geographic region where the office is located.
• Must be able to travel by automobile for up to 20% of work time.

Nice to have

• Juris doctor degree.
• Third-year law student and/or law school graduate pending bar results.
• Exceptional communication, persuasion, writing, and analytical skills.
• Completion of remedies and trial advocacy.
