Mainframe Operations Technician (DB2 & z/OS)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with up to 2 remote days per week. Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in Europe will be considered.

Salary: €3,150–€3,780 gross for B2B or €1,800–€2,050 net for a permanent contract.

hirify.global offers a client-facing mainframe operations role supporting DB2 and z/OS technical environments.

What you will do

• Operate and support DB2 and z/OS mainframe environments.
• Perform database queries and administration tasks with IBM SPUFI.
• Manage file transfers through CFT and messaging operations with MQ Series.
• Record, monitor, and resolve incidents in ServiceNow within an ITIL framework.
• Participate in shift work and provide on-call technical support.
• Apply analytical thinking and proactive problem-solving to operational challenges.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in mainframe operations or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 and z/OS.
• Practical knowledge of IBM SPUFI.
• Experience managing file transfers with CFT and familiarity with MQ Series messaging.
• Experience using ServiceNow for incident management.
• Knowledge of ITIL practices.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.
• Communicative command of English and French.
• Existing legal right to work in Europe.
