Data Center Network Operations Engineer (Networking)

Location: Hybrid; other locations include Lisbon, Portugal and London, United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Maintain data center environment operational availability across hirify.global’s global network.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network Engineering, SRE, hardware manufacturers, data center and network providers, logistics partners, and other service providers across 330+ cities and 125+ countries.
• Create documentation, plans, SOPs, and MOPs, and manage remote contractors completing data center tasks.
• Support and configure network infrastructure where required.
• Use AI tools to automate repetitive operational tasks, accelerate documentation, and improve troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Provide feedback to internal teams to improve internal tools and external vendor partnerships.

Requirements

• Experience with Juniper, Cisco, and DWDM network equipment.
• At least 4 years of Linux systems administration experience.
• Experience managing and instructing remote contractors.
• Familiarity with standing up infrastructure in remote colocation facilities and with day-to-day data center operations, including deployment, migration, and decommissioning.
• Experience running and improving operational processes, including automation tooling, in a rapidly changing environment.
• Comfort handling basic program management responsibilities such as prioritization, planning, scheduling, and status reporting, including tools such as JIRA.
• Participation in a shared on-call rotation supporting 24×7 operational availability of the global network.
• Strong technical, verbal, written communication, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, and interpersonal skills; ability to work across schedules, time zones, and cultures.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, or a related technical field.
• Experience executing complex data center or infrastructure projects and installing or maintaining data center, IT infrastructure, and DCIM tools.
• Ability to manage Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets; proactive approach, fast learning, multitasking, and teamwork.
• Multilingual ability and experience working with infrastructure in multiple countries.
• Experience with remote lights-out and out-of-band data center access.
• Linux certifications such as RHCSA and network certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA.
• Configuration management experience with SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Scripting or software development experience in Bash, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, or Apache.
• Experience working within a large-scale SaaS vendor.
