Senior Software Engineer - IAM

Location: Remote-first within Brazil; optional work from São Paulo offices or partner coworking spaces up to twice a week.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and scale centralized Authentication and Authorization platforms.
• Build secure, resilient, fault-tolerant, and low-latency IAM services handling millions of authentication requests daily.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, product managers, and Security to define secure service-to-service and user-to-service communication patterns.
• Own the full lifecycle of IAM products, including definition, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Lead design and code reviews, reinforce software quality practices, and mentor software engineers.
• Monitor service health, troubleshoot incidents, debug issues, and create post-mortems with preventative actions.

Requirements

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages used in the stack, such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
• Experience designing and evolving scalable software architecture from the ground up and creating secure RESTful APIs.
• Proven experience with Agile development practices and solid fundamentals in version control, testing, deployment automation, and design documentation.
• Strong understanding of database design and evolution, plus experience with monitoring, observability, and performance tracking.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a focus on learning, data-driven work, and high-quality software delivery.
• Fluency in Portuguese and advanced English are required.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, implementing, or migrating centralized Identity Providers or fine-grained authorization systems such as Zanzibar-based models or OPA.
• Practical knowledge of IAM concepts, protocols, and standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM, JWT, RBAC, and ABAC.
• Experience with AWS or GCP and native IAM or security services.
• Understanding of service-to-service authentication, workload identity, mTLS, and SPIFFE/SPIRE.
• Experience mentoring software engineers and testing or tuning highly concurrent, latency-sensitive distributed systems.
• Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and integrating security checks into pipelines.
