Lead Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States; other listed locations are Frisco, Texas and Eagan, Minnesota.

Base compensation: $118,400–$219,800 USD annually, with potential annual bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain external and internal REST APIs, microservices, and backend platforms using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
• Build secure, scalable, highly available services for customer-facing products, third-party integrations, and enterprise workflows.
• Lead microservice architecture, including service decomposition, API contracts, event-driven patterns, observability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
• Implement cloud-native solutions with containerization, orchestration, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and continuous delivery.
• Develop web applications with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS while collaborating with product, architecture, UX, security, and operations teams.
• Drive technical design, code quality, testing, security remediation, architecture and code reviews, and engineer mentoring, including responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant hands-on expertise with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, API development, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting external and internal REST APIs used by customers, partners, and internal applications.
• Strong experience with microservices architectures, service communication, scalability, resiliency, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong proficiency with Angular, TypeScript, component-based architecture, state management, routing, and API integration.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, or similar containerization and deployment technologies.
• Understanding of observability, logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, fault tolerance, and operational excellence.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, relational databases, SQL, Entity Framework, Git, and GitHub workflows.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• C++ development experience, including object-oriented programming, performance optimization, debugging, and integration with existing platforms or services.
• Experience with customer-facing platforms, SaaS applications, developer platforms, or public API ecosystems.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of API gateways, OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, API security, and API lifecycle management.
