Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in Canada; applicants must be able to live and work full-time in Canada. Some roles may require proximity to offices in Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions for complex business needs.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions focused on configurability and long-term maintainability.
• Build and improve platform features with product managers, designers, and engineers.
• Optimize application performance, security, reliability, and code quality through reviews.
• Identify technical challenges, improve development processes, and evaluate emerging technologies, including LLM integrations and automated testing.
• Guide engineering best practices, including advanced TypeScript typing and AI-assisted refactoring.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience building scalable, enterprise-grade applications.
• Experience working in fast-paced software startup or scale-up environments where rapid shipping and iteration are essential.
• Proven experience shipping and operating production AI features, such as RAG, LLM integrations, vector search, or AI agents; AI coding-tool usage alone is insufficient.
• Strong full-stack expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, specifically the MEAN stack: MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.
• Fluency with AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor or Copilot, automated testing with Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure including AWS, GCP, or Azure and Docker.
• Must be able to live and work full-time in Canada.

Nice to have

• Relational and NoSQL database experience, plus vector search such as MongoDB Atlas Vector Search or search indexing.
• Security-first approach to sensitive corporate data and ability to explain technical and AI trade-offs to non-technical partners.
