System Verification Test Engineer (Optical Networks)

Location: Gdynia, Poland; hybrid work with office presence required 3 days per week.

Employment: Full time under an employment contract.

What you will do

• Build, wire, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory setups containing network elements, pluggable optics, fibers, traffic generators and measurement equipment.
• Plan and execute system and end-to-end test scenarios from the customer perspective.
• Automate tests, device configuration and repetitive laboratory work with scripts, Python, Robot Framework and Jenkins.
• Use AI tools for test-case writing and review, script generation, log and result analysis, and documentation.
• Reproduce, isolate and analyze defects, collaborating with development teams until resolution.
• Document test cases, results and defects, and improve testing processes, tools and the laboratory.

Requirements

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics or a similar technical field.
• Some experience in testing, validation, integration or a similar hands-on engineering role, including industry experience, internships or substantial university projects.
• Scripting or programming skills in any language.
• Practical hands-on attitude and willingness to build hardware test setups independently.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently and investigate complex problems in depth.
• Very good written and spoken English.
• Good communication, teamwork and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of fiber-optic technologies, including DWDM, ROADMs, optical amplifiers, attenuation, dispersion and OSNR.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, IP, OTN, NETCONF/YANG or SNMP.
• Experience using AI tools, LLM assistants or coding agents in engineering work.
• Experience with Python, Robot Framework, Jenkins, Git, Linux command line and telecom or network-device configuration.
• Experience with traffic testers, optical power meters or optical spectrum analyzers.
