Staff I Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Mexico City, New Delhi, or Warsaw

Bain & Company’s Next Generation Software Solutions team builds and operates software products supporting Bain’s intellectual property and consulting solutions. Coro is a proprietary B2B go-to-market software suite providing AI-accelerated data, analytics, and GTM tools.

What you will do

• Define Coro’s data-platform architecture with Senior Architects and Engineering Managers, validating trade-offs, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications, author design documentation, and lead development through execution.
• Build the most complex platform components and provide advanced support, including ownership of major incidents and post-incident improvements.
• Direct deployments, oversee CI/CD and release management, and improve operational reliability, time to market, quality, cost, and uptime.
• Lead technical discovery, proofs of concept, innovation initiatives, automation, and tooling improvements.
• Mentor engineers, support recruiting and interviews, and collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in senior technical leadership, scalable cloud-based data platforms or software products, Python data systems in production, and leading or mentoring engineering teams across products or work streams.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Deep Python expertise, including typing, concurrency, performance profiling, packaging, and the standard library.
• Strong software architecture fundamentals, including system design, API contracts, modular decomposition, and scalability patterns.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, governance, privacy practices, and ability to design and validate schemas at scale.
• Experience with enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines; Python data tooling such as pandas, Polars, PyArrow, DuckDB, or PySpark.
• Experience with workflow orchestration such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, dbt, or Temporal; cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Experience with multiple public clouds—AWS, Azure, or GCP—their Python SDKs, infrastructure as code, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Ability to communicate architecture and technical trade-offs to executive, business, and engineering audiences; mentor engineers, build engineering culture, navigate ambiguity, and align teams around technical direction.

Nice to have

• Streaming experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or Spark Structured Streaming.
• Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architecture experience.
• Architecture cost optimization and cloud resource management.
• A second language such as Go, Rust, Scala, or TypeScript.
• Generative AI, machine learning, or data science tooling experience.
• Service management and Agile tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.
