Senior Software Test Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do

• Develop test plans, schedules, procedures, cases, scripts, and scenario data for information systems, products, and services.
• Lead manual and automated testing, verification activities, test reviews, and walkthroughs with technical and project stakeholders.
• Test web applications, APIs, services, and IT systems for functionality, performance, security, usability, and freedom from defects.
• Document test results, metrics, issues, and resolution progress while supporting defect analysis and complex problem resolution.
• Improve testing procedures, develop future configuration models, and provide technical solutions for difficult problems.
• Occasionally support requirements, design, installation, operation, sustainment, and other IT systems engineering activities; mentor junior testers.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and pass the required government investigation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, plus 10 or more years of total professional experience and 10 or more years in software testing and quality assurance.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as C#, Java, or Python; this is not an SQA tester-only position.
• Experience delivering complex software projects through manual and automated testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT testing.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans; knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, and LoadRunner.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum, SDLC, CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, version control systems such as Git and Subversion, and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of performance testing with tools such as JMeter and Gatling; security testing practices; database and SQL validation.
• Experience testing web applications, APIs, and services; using defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA and Bugzilla.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, prioritization, independent-working, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to understand requirements and translate them into test scenarios.
• Ability to conduct test reviews, provide constructive feedback, mentor and guide junior testers, and apply risk-based, exploratory, and context-driven testing.

Nice to have

• Advanced testing or quality assurance certification such as ISTQB, CSTE, or CSQA.
• Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, including 837, 834, and 277 transactions.
• Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms such as AWS and Azure.
