Project Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Oxfordshire, Didcot, United Kingdom (Hybrid); based at hirify.global UK (Harwell), with potential international conferences and subsidiary visits.

What you will do

• Lead or support the design and delivery of space missions and complex engineering projects through matrixed project and engineering teams.
• Plan and deliver project review gates, including Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Critical Design Review, with associated deliverables.
• Balance quality, cost, schedule, and risk while delivering project outputs.
• Generate project inputs for mission concept studies, technical and non-technical work packages, and bids.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, programme partners, engineering teams, and commercial stakeholders.
• Report project status and maintain accountability to business and senior management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of project or programme management experience in the space or aerospace industries, with a track record of successful mission delivery.
• Broad technical project management capability covering delivery, scheduling, financial management, and risk management.
• Experience planning and completing project review gates.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and lead a close-knit team.
• A can-do approach and commitment to achieving collective success.

Nice to have

• Full mission lifecycle experience from requirements definition through verification, delivery, commissioning, and operations.
• Practical application of lean engineering methodologies and knowledge of engineering processes and standards such as ECSS.
• Technical university degree.
• Experience with spacecraft system and subsystem functional teams, including GNC/AOCS, C&DH/OBDH, propulsion, software, ground segment, operations, and mechanical engineering.
• Awareness of assembly, integration, and verification processes; supplier management or unit procurement experience.
• Knowledge of debris removal, end-of-life, in-orbit maintenance or servicing, including relevant regulatory and legal frameworks and missions.
• Experience with challenging customers, partners, or suppliers and with unblocking or closing delayed or over-budget projects.
• Experience in bid support, project financial accounting, QA/PA, or business development.
• Experience collaborating across countries and cultures in a fast-paced technical environment.
• Honesty, openness, integrity, and the ability to influence and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
