Senior Product & AI Counsel (Part-time, AI)

Location: Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands; hybrid, one day a week.

Salary: €2,000–€2,500 per month for 8 hours a week on a freelance retainer basis.

What you will do

• Act as product counsel by joining product syncs, reviewing features before development, and identifying legal and compliance issues early.
• Lead compliance for the AI proposition by classifying use cases, mapping provider and deployer obligations under the EU AI Act, and establishing documentation, transparency, and governance.
• Advise on compliance with the European Accessibility Act and related standards for the platform and customer-published content.
• Embed privacy into product development by advising on GDPR questions related to new features and data.
• Advise on cybersecurity law, including NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act, and incident reporting duties, in collaboration with security.
• Monitor developments in AI, cybersecurity, accessibility, and privacy regulation and turn them into practical team guidance.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Law or equivalent and 6+ years of experience, ideally combining law-firm and in-house work at a technology or SaaS company.
• Hands-on product counsel experience for software, ideally including AI products.
• Deep working knowledge of the EU AI Act and its practical application to AI propositions.
• Experience with cybersecurity law and digital accessibility rules, including NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act, and the European Accessibility Act.
• Solid grounding in commercial and corporate law, with working knowledge of employment law.
• Senior, independent judgment; practical communication of complex regulation to product teams in plain language.
• Proactive and curious approach, including identifying gaps early and understanding how the product works.
• Comfort working part-time and flexibly, with availability for urgent matters.
• Fluent English. Dutch is a plus.

Nice to have

• GDPR and privacy expertise, ideally at DPO level or with a certification such as CIPP/E.
• Experience working with scale-ups on a retainer or fractional basis.
