Senior Legal Counsel (European Technology Regulation)

Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands; hybrid work setup with collaboration from the Amsterdam HQ. Candidates must be based in the Netherlands, hold an EU passport, or have a partner/highly skilled migrant visa in the Netherlands.

Salary: €71,000–€114,200 gross per year; the role is also described as capped at €100,000 gross per year including holiday allowance.

What you will do

• Partner with Product, Engineering and other teams during discovery and refinement to assess legal and regulatory requirements for new features and services and maintain compliance after launch.
• Research, interpret and advise on European regulations such as the DSA, GDPR and AI Act, as well as national ticketing legislation.
• Translate legal complexity and risks into practical, risk-based recommendations that support informed business decisions.
• Monitor cross-border regulatory developments, assess their impact and recommend and help prioritise actions.
• Advise on entering new markets, expanding operations and introducing new products or business models.
• Build legal awareness, independently manage legal matters and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisers.

Requirements

• Completed degree in Dutch law and a solid understanding of European legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Approximately 5–8 years of relevant legal experience, including in-house experience.
• Experience advising on regulatory compliance, ideally in a technology-driven, digital platform or marketplace environment.
• Ability to interpret complex legislation, navigate grey areas and balance legal risks with business objectives.
• Proactive approach to identifying potential challenges and opportunities before they arise.
• Strong collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, commercial teams, leadership and external advisers.
• Strategic thinking combined with attention to detail and hands-on legal work.
• Curiosity, open-mindedness and willingness to challenge existing approaches when appropriate.
• Based in the Netherlands, an EU passport, or a partner/highly skilled migrant visa in the Netherlands; fluent written and spoken Dutch and English.

Nice to have

• Experience with consumer protection, digital platforms, e-commerce, data protection or European technology regulation.
• Familiarity with the live events or ticketing industry.
