People Operations Generalist

Location: On-site in San Jose, United States; fully in-person in West San Jose. Relocation support is available for those moving to West San Jose.

Compensation: $100,000–$200,000 per year. Housing subsidy: $2,500/month for employees living within walking distance of the office.

What you will do

• Own the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, transfers, leaves, and offboarding.
• Advise employees and managers on policies, benefits, pay, performance conversations, and team changes.
• Run performance, feedback, engagement, recognition, culture, and Learning & Development programs.
• Maintain compliance with California and federal employment requirements, including records, I-9s, and leaves, in partnership with Legal.
• Administer benefits, open enrollment, relocation and housing programs, payroll inputs, equity administration, and compensation changes.
• Own HRIS and People tooling, automate repetitive work with AI tools, and create documentation for self-service.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience using reporting and data analytics to inform strategic People initiatives.
• Strong working knowledge of Jira, Slack, Notion, and GSuite.
• Hands-on experience with Rippling HRIS or a similar modern HR platform.
• Demonstrated success working in fast-paced, dynamic startup environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with strategic compensation planning and headcount management.
• HR Business Partnering experience supporting managers and employees with strategic HR guidance.
• Knowledge of recruiting operations.
• Experience managing and administering employee benefits programs.
