Senior Network Operations Engineer

Location: Chicago - 20 S. Wacker, United States of America. Available schedules: Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday, 12pm-8:30pm CT.

Salary: $54.90-$91.49 per hour, plus annual target bonus, equity opportunity, health coverage, 401(k), pension plan, education reimbursement, paid time off, and mental health benefits.

What you will do

• Lead troubleshooting of network issues and coordinate incident response with other departments.
• Implement simultaneous network changes with emphasis on automation, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.
• Resolve complex issues for internal and external customers, including packet capture analysis.
• Support operational acceptance testing for new environments and identify gaps in procedures and documentation.
• Evaluate network designs and processes, propose improvements, and implement configuration-management changes across a multi-vendor global network.
• Research emerging networking technologies and support enterprise security, wireless, multicast, and hybrid cloud environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Demonstrable industry experience; financial services and/or large-scale unicast and multicast networks are advantageous.
• Extensive knowledge of and troubleshooting expertise with routing and switching protocols, including OSPF, BGP, and STP.
• Experience designing and/or supporting large-scale multicast networks, particularly financial market data feeds.
• Experience with network monitoring, packet-capture tools, or software-defined networking.
• Strong understanding of network security practices, including firewalls, proxies, penetration scans, SSL, IPsec, and 802.1X.
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting wireless networks, including standards, security, and radio placement.
• Fundamental knowledge and theoretical understanding of software and hardware load balancers.
• Familiarity with scripting languages and automation tools for operationalizing routine tasks and accelerating deployments.
• Broad understanding of networking concepts behind virtual environments and hybrid cloud initiatives.
