Data Engineer II (Credit Reporting)

Location: Remote in Latin America; other location listed as Bogota, Colombia

Salary: $2,800–$4,500 per month, gross in USD

What you will do

• Own recurring credit bureau furnishing operations, including preparation, validation, submission, feedback handling, exception resolution, and reconciliation.
• Build, maintain, and debug SQL transformations, Python scripts, and data pipelines producing credit reporting data.
• Trace discrepancies from account activity and source records through transformation logic to furnished outputs, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
• Investigate Customer Service escalations, explain account-data outcomes under approved policies, and provide evidence for dispute responses.
• Identify affected accounts, apply corrections and controlled reprocessing, and verify reporting outcomes.
• Develop tests, reconciliations, monitoring, alerts, documentation, and data lineage; partner with Engineering and Compliance on production defects and reporting rules.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant data engineering or software engineering experience, including hands-on ownership of production data pipelines and operational workflows.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, account-level reconciliation, data profiling, and transformation troubleshooting.
• Strong Python skills, including reading unfamiliar code, debugging existing scripts, and implementing maintainable fixes.
• Ability to independently investigate ambiguous problems, prioritize recurring operations and incidents, and carry issues through verified resolution.
• Experience with version control, code review, automated testing, monitoring, safe deployment, and data-workflow reprocessing.
• Strong problem-solving, business judgment, and communication skills, including explaining technical findings to Customer Service and Compliance and collaborating with Engineering.
• Fluent English.
• Demonstrated experience with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with credit reporting disputes, e-OSCAR, Metro 2, and customer-support escalations.
• Experience with dbt, Redshift, PostgreSQL, AWS, and workflow scheduling or orchestration tools.
• Experience in consumer lending, servicing, payments, financial services, banking, fintech, or BNPL.
