Member of Technical Staff — Product Engineer (AI)

Location: In-person in Seattle, Washington, five days a week.

Salary: $250,000–$300,000 annual base salary plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Build end-to-end product features across backend systems, UI, and the full avatar conversation experience.
• Design fair, responsive experiences that remain reliable under heavy demand and load.
• Build and grow the developer platform, including APIs, SDKs, and documentation.
• Maintain internal research tooling and partner with researchers on study-supporting features.
• Build user feedback mechanisms and ensure avatar versions are tested, smoothly rolled out, and scalable.
• Work with cross-functional partners, including legal, on privacy-conscious user flows.

Requirements

• Track record of shipping product features end to end, including explaining implementation tradeoffs and post-launch outcomes.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in the languages used best.
• Proficient, everyday use of agentic AI tools, with the judgment to verify their work.
• Product judgment, including understanding user experience, polish, and when to build a quick version.
• Comfort with production systems, load, rollouts, monitoring, and incident response.
• Self-drive: ability to identify and complete work from a problem rather than a detailed specification, without daily direction.
• Range: willingness to move between product, platform, and research tooling and quickly learn what the next problem requires.
• Startup instincts: ability to thrive in a small, fast-moving team and own outcomes rather than tickets.

Nice to have

• Experience with audio/video capture or real-time media.
• Mobile and/or desktop application development experience.
• Experience building developer-facing products such as APIs, SDKs, or documentation.
• Experience building tools for researchers or working closely with ML teams.
