Design Engineer (AI)

Location: United States, New York City; work connected to the NYC office, including office-based meal benefits. Potential nights and weekends may be required because the product is tied to live sports.

Salary: $200,000–$260,000 base per year, plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Work at the intersection of design and frontend engineering with design and engineering teams.
• Use AI tools such as Claude Code to translate ideas into working code, prototype approaches, generate components, and iterate on implementations.
• Build interactive prototypes, test them with real users and devices, and turn validated user flows into production-ready patterns.
• Translate design principles into scalable components and repeatable, brand-driven design-system patterns.
• Define motion principles, transitions, animations, and micro-interactions while refining product details.
• Build fast, inclusive, and reliable experiences using semantic structure, accessible navigation, focus states, and motion preferences; partner with engineers on debugging and optimization.

Requirements

• Frontend engineering and product design experience at the intersection of design and implementation.
• Ability to prototype in code and ship polished product experiences.
• Ability to use AI throughout the design and implementation process.
• Strong attention to interaction details, motion, transitions, and micro-interactions.
• Ability to develop and maintain scalable design-system components and patterns.
• Ability to conduct or use user research and feedback to improve user flows.
• Understanding of frontend performance, accessibility, semantic structure, navigation, focus states, and motion preferences.
• Ownership, curiosity, adaptability, fast execution, and clear, thoughtful communication.
