Associate Professor and Department Chair of Computer Information Systems

Location: Killeen, Texas, United States; on-campus faculty role with Monday–Friday faculty hours that may vary by assignment and course modality, including nights and weekends as needed.

What you will do

• Lead departmental operations, strategic initiatives, budgeting, resource allocation, personnel matters, scheduling, workload assignments, and policy compliance.
• Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and support faculty development.
• Lead curriculum development, program growth, assessment, continuous improvement, accreditation, and program review for undergraduate and graduate CIS programs.
• Promote experiential learning, internships, certifications, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry engagement.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer information systems and related disciplines.
• Maintain an active scholarly agenda, mentor students, and provide professional service across the department, college, university, and discipline.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility for classification as a Scholarly Academic (SA) under COBA’s AACSB faculty guidelines and compliance with SACSCOC credentialing standards.
• Qualifications for appointment as Associate Professor with tenure.
• Demonstrated university-level teaching effectiveness, scholarly achievement, and professional engagement.
• Demonstrated leadership experience through program coordination, committee leadership, or administrative responsibilities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
• Applicants must already be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. The university will not pay the stated $100,000 H-1B petition fee, and current Texas restrictions may affect new H-1B sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience as a department chair, associate or assistant chair, program director, or in a comparable academic leadership role.
• Experience with program assessment, strategic planning, accreditation, budgets, personnel, curriculum innovation, and online education.
• Engagement with business, government, or technology industry partners.
• Professional certifications in information systems, cybersecurity, cloud computing, project management, or data analytics.
• Experience securing external funding, grants, or industry partnerships.
• Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, cybersecurity, information systems management, data analytics and business intelligence, cloud computing, enterprise systems, database management, software development and programming, networking and infrastructure, project management, digital transformation, or emerging technologies.
