Broadcast Engineer (IT)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee, United States; onsite. Full-time shift work may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

What you will do

• Maintain and troubleshoot broadcast and IT systems, including studio and control room automation, master control, ENPS newsroom systems, cameras, audio equipment, and streaming encoders.
• Configure and troubleshoot IP networking for servers and broadcast equipment.
• Diagnose signal-flow and data-flow issues and interpret schematics and technical system drawings.
• Support remote feeds, streaming workflows, studio operations, and live day-of-air production.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and operations teams to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and deliver technical solutions.
• Manage projects, design systems, and assist with system integration and commissioning.

Requirements

• Five years of experience as an IT technician or maintenance engineer in a media facility is desired.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, including LAN, VLAN, WAN, and VPN, plus Active Directory and Windows/Linux platforms.
• Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software, including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, and test and measurement equipment.
• Ability to use network tools such as ping and traceroute and common test equipment such as signal generators and oscilloscopes.
• Understanding of video compression, resolutions, and bandwidth requirements; ability to read and understand studio signal-flow diagrams.
• Proficiency in newsroom and production environments, especially software-driven environments, and strong hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including diplomatic collaboration across departments.
• Ability to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; handle, control, or feel objects and tools; and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, including extremely bright or inadequate lighting.
• Knowledge of common business software applications.

Nice to have

• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Familiarity with Ross Xpression, LED videowalls, Dante audio, and satellite transmission.
