Focus on designing and analyzing waveforms, calculating range and Doppler performance, performing mission and coverage analysis, and validating radar payloads through hands-on testing.
Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters.
Salary: $88,000–$132,000 USD annual base pay in California.
Company
hirify.global is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, radar and RF systems, payloads, and other critical space subsystems.
What you will do
Support architecture, prototyping, integration, testing, and flight development of space-based radar systems, including SAR applications.
Perform radar link-budget analysis, performance modeling, simulations, orbital analysis, coverage calculations, and mission analysis using MATLAB, Python, or specialized tools.
Support waveform, timing, PRF, and RF component design trades, including range/Doppler resolution, SNR, and imaging analysis.
Develop test plans and procedures; participate in EIRP, sensitivity, imaging, calibration, RF component characterization, and data-processing activities.
Prepare test reports, analysis summaries, ICDs, requirements reviews, proposals, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with RF, digital, systems, and spacecraft engineers while supporting technical reviews, troubleshooting, schedules, and deliverables.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
Foundational knowledge of radar systems, radar equations, and basic signal processing concepts.
Academic or professional exposure to SAR systems, space-based radar, or remote sensing.
Basic understanding of orbital mechanics, including LEO, MEO, GEO, ground tracks, and coverage concepts.
Foundational awareness of spacecraft systems and payload interactions.
Basic understanding of RF systems, including link budgets, amplifiers, and receiver architectures.
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or similar analysis and simulation tools.
U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements, and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance is required.
Nice to have
Communication, teamwork, analytical, problem-solving, independent-working, and initiative-taking skills.
Existing security clearance, internship or research experience in space-based radar or SAR, and experience with radar simulation tools such as STK or MATLAB Phased Array Toolbox.
Coursework or projects in orbital mechanics, spacecraft design, astrodynamics, digital signal processing, or image processing.
Hands-on experience with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, phased-array antennas, or beamforming.
Familiarity with RF design tools such as AWR, ADS, or CST; Git and software development practices.
Knowledge of radar imaging modes, space-environment effects, launch environments, spacecraft qualification, and satellite systems.
Culture & Benefits
Fast-paced, hardware-focused environment working on space missions, with teamwork, tight deadlines, and hands-on execution.
Company stock, an Employee Stock Purchase Program with a 15% discount, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
