TL;DR
RF Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing RF systems for a next-generation LEO satellite navigation system with an accent on spacecraft payload electronics, ground monitoring systems, and high-precision PNT signal delivery. Focus on RF design across L-band, S-band, and C-band, developing calibrated test setups, analyzing RF test data, and validating space RF electronics.

Location: On-site in Burlingame, California, United States. Travel is required as needed to support off-site testing events.

Salary: $160K–$180K per year, plus equity.

Company

hirify.global develops Pulsar, a low Earth orbit satellite infrastructure providing high-precision positioning, navigation, and timing services.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, test, and optimize RF systems for a next-generation satellite navigation system.
  • Develop RF solutions spanning spacecraft payload electronics and ground monitoring systems.
  • Build and calibrate RF test setups and analyze test data against design requirements.
  • Support the end-to-end RF broadcast system for high-accuracy positioning, navigation, and timing services.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and external partners, communicate technical findings, and support off-site testing events.
  • Move RF projects from design through implementation with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of RF engineering experience.
  • Understanding of electromagnetic principles underlying RF communications and common RF system performance metrics.
  • Ability to interpret PCB schematics and layout drawings, with familiarity using PCB design tools such as Altium.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and RF test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • RF design experience in L-band, S-band, and C-band, including experience tuning RF amplifiers and circuits.
  • Familiarity with RF circuit simulation tools such as Keysight ADS or AWR Microwave Office.
  • Hands-on experience developing and calibrating RF test setups and analyzing RF test data against design requirements.
  • Experience with space RF electronics, including phenomena such as multipaction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, effective cross-functional collaboration, and clear communication of technical findings to multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for off-site testing events and a proactive approach to moving projects from design through implementation.
  • Knowledge of or experience with GNSS systems.
  • For U.S. roles, U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or another protected-individual status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience or coursework in antenna design or testing.
  • Familiarity with 3D electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS.
  • A track record of RF PCB or antenna designs that have been built and tested.
  • Experience implementing passive or active RF subsystems on the bench or on PCBs.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with equity.
  • Commitment to diversity and an inclusive work environment.
  • Equal consideration for qualified applicants regardless of legally protected characteristics.
