Modeling & Simulation Engineer (Radars) (Radar/RF simulation): Developing physics-based and performance-based models for radar and RF sensing systems with an accent on signal-level simulation, detection, tracking, electronic warfare, and model validation. Focus on integrating radar algorithms and software into closed-loop SIL, HITL, and HWIL environments, running Monte Carlo and uncertainty analyses, and correlating models with laboratory, range, field, and flight-test data.
Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite role.
Salary: $140,000–$190,000 base per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.
Company
hirify.global develops defense products powered by Coherent Distributed Networks for aerospace, commercial aviation, and border protection applications.
What you will do
Develop, integrate, maintain, and validate physics-based and performance-based models for radar and RF sensing systems across analytical, behavioral, measurement, signal/IQ, radar-mode, tracker, and closed-loop system levels.
Model radar effects including antenna and beam patterns, beam steering, waveforms, RF-chain behavior, noise, propagation, atmospheric effects, multipath, clutter, interference, jamming, radar cross section, calibration errors, biases, and uncertainty.
Develop or integrate detection, thresholding, discrimination, measurement extraction, data association, tracking, estimation, classification, sensor-fusion, radar-mode, and resource-management functions.
Build target, scene, geometry, trajectory, environmental, and threat models; perform design trades, sensitivity studies, Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty quantification, and design of experiments.
Integrate radar algorithms, radar and embedded software, sensor and target models, and hardware interfaces into SIL, SITL, HITL, HWIL, real-time, and batch simulation environments.
Validate models against analytical references, measurements, recorded signal or IQ data, range data, field tests, and flight tests; support test planning, execution, anomaly investigation, post-test analysis, documentation, and customer or program deliverables.
Requirements
Experience with signal- or complex-IQ-level radar simulation.
Experience with radar detection, measurement generation, discrimination, or signal processing.
Experience with radar tracking, estimation, data association, or sensor fusion.
Experience with radar modes, resource management, or system-performance analysis.
Experience with RF propagation, clutter, interference, electronic warfare, or electronic protection.
Experience with real-time radar stimulation, HITL, or HWIL.
Strong programming ability in at least one scientific or analytical environment such as MATLAB, Python, or C++.
Experience with Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity analysis, statistical analysis, uncertainty modeling, or design of experiments.
Experience validating or correlating models against analytical results, laboratory measurements, recorded sensor data, range data, or field or flight-test data.
Experience analyzing large engineering datasets and communicating technically defensible conclusions.
Experience with Git, code review, automated testing, issue tracking, continuous integration, and reproducible software or analysis workflows.
Ability to work independently, make sound technical judgments, document assumptions and limitations clearly, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
Active Secret clearance.
Nice to have
Master’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
Experience with AESA or phased-array radar, digital beamforming, electronically steered arrays, waveform design, adaptive processing, or cognitive radar.
Experience in radar mission areas such as airborne surveillance, air-to-air radar, fire-control radar, ground-based air defense, missile warning, space surveillance, seeker radar, SAR, ISAR, GMTI, maritime surveillance, or counter-UAS.
Experience with advanced detection, low-SNR processing, clutter suppression, Doppler processing, pulse compression, space-time adaptive processing, or electronic protection.
Experience with Kalman filtering, nonlinear estimation, multi-target tracking, multi-hypothesis tracking, probabilistic data association, track management, or multisensor fusion.
Experience with antenna-pattern data, radar cross-section data, computational-electromagnetics outputs, or RF-system calibration data.
Experience with GPU acceleration, CUDA, HPC, deterministic real-time systems, FPGA or SDR interfaces, radar stimulators, or high-throughput batch execution.
