TL;DR
Senior RF Engineer (Radar): Designing, integrating, testing, and transitioning RF and microwave subsystems for advanced radar and sensor products with an accent on RF architecture, modeling, verification, and production readiness. Focus on analyzing complex RF performance, troubleshooting hardware in laboratory and field environments, and leading technical decisions across multidisciplinary defense programs.
Location: Mullica Hill, NJ, US; hybrid or onsite based on business and program requirements. Up to 50% travel may be required. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance are required.
Base salary: $165,000–$215,000 annually.
Company
Lyntris is a defense technology company developing integrated hardware, software, and mission systems for sensing and responding to threats across space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains.
What you will do
Translate mission and system requirements into RF subsystem requirements, architectures, performance budgets, interfaces, design criteria, and verification methods.
Design and review antennas, apertures, transmit and receive chains, frequency sources, amplifiers, filters, RF distribution, calibration functions, microwave circuits, assemblies, and interfaces.
Develop and correlate circuit, electromagnetic, antenna, propagation, link-budget, and system-level models using engineering tools and measured data.
Plan and execute laboratory, integration-site, test-range, and field activities using specialized RF instrumentation; troubleshoot complex performance issues and test anomalies.
Lead verification, qualification, production transition, supplier support, configuration management, and technical documentation across the product lifecycle.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, customer briefings, design-review support, and evidence-based recommendations on RF performance, risks, and tradeoffs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, electromagnetics, applied physics, computer engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
At least 12 years of progressively responsible RF or microwave engineering experience, or at least 10 years with a relevant master’s degree. A relevant doctoral degree may substitute for additional experience under company policy.
Substantial experience designing, analyzing, integrating, testing, or transitioning RF and microwave subsystems for radar, advanced sensors, electronic warfare, communications, missile defense, aerospace, or another complex defense application.
Experience owning RF technical work across requirements, architecture, detailed design, integration, verification, qualification, production transition, and field support.
Strong knowledge of transmission lines, impedance matching, S-parameters, noise, nonlinear effects, frequency conversion, filtering, amplification, stability, electromagnetic propagation, and antenna interfaces.
Experience developing RF budgets, conducting technical trades, interpreting measured data, and connecting component- and subsystem-level performance to mission performance.
Hands-on experience with RF laboratory instrumentation, debugging, calibration, characterization, and disciplined test methods.
Proficiency with one or more relevant tools, including Keysight ADS, Cadence AWR, Ansys HFSS, CST Studio Suite, FEKO, MATLAB, Python, Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent.
Experience working with systems, digital hardware, firmware, software, signal processing, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, quality, and integration and test disciplines.
Experience preparing and reviewing requirements, interface documentation, analyses, drawings or schematics, test plans, test reports, and formal design-review materials.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, including the ability to make defensible recommendations with incomplete data or constraints.
Demonstrated experience briefing customer, program, or executive audiences on complex technical subjects.
U.S. citizenship and current possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, U.S. Government national security eligibility and a Top Secret clearance.
Nice to have
Master’s or doctoral degree in electrical engineering, RF or microwave engineering, electromagnetics, applied physics, or a related discipline.
Recent experience with advanced radar, sensor, or electronic warfare programs and U.S. Government technical stakeholders.
Experience with active electronically scanned arrays, phased-array antennas, beamforming, array calibration, low-sidelobe design, interference mitigation, or distributed apertures.
Experience with low-SWaP-C architectures, high-power transmitters, low-noise receivers, transmit/receive modules, RF system-on-chip devices, high-speed converters, or software-defined RF systems.
Experience with antenna and RF measurement facilities and automated measurement or calibration methods.
Experience applying MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, or equivalent electromagnetic compatibility and environmental qualification standards.
Experience with modular open systems, OpenVPX, SOSA-aligned architectures, open RF and digital interfaces, or reusable defense electronics frameworks.
Experience supporting surveillance, fire-control, counter-unmanned aircraft, maritime, airborne, space, missile-defense, or intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance programs.
Experience overseeing suppliers, subcontractors, or external design partners and supporting technical solutioning, basis-of-estimate development, or new-product introduction.
Culture & Benefits
Work across integrated design, build, and test capabilities supporting defense programs.
Paid time off and company holidays.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with optional HSA and FSA.
Base and voluntary life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, and an employee assistance program.
401(k) matching.
Work may include laboratory, manufacturing, integration, field-test, outdoor, industrial, electromagnetic test-range, and operational environments; lifting up to 25 pounds and personal protective equipment may be required.
