Radar Modeling Engineer - Principal /SME (Radar Systems)

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States; onsite. Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support the development and execution of radar and RF seeker simulations.
• Add new capabilities to existing simulations and deliver simulation solutions for internal analysis and government customer deliverables.
• Understand customer requirements and demonstrate simulation capabilities to customers and stakeholders.
• Potentially lead engineers and software developers designing and developing simulation solutions.
• Prioritize new simulation-tool capabilities while maintaining existing tools.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.
• Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
• Twenty years of experience designing or analyzing sensor systems, seeker systems, electronic warfare systems, or weapon systems.
• Strong people skills and technical leadership experience.
• Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python.

Nice to have

• Detailed experience modeling SPY/TPY radar systems supporting Missile Defense Agency and Navy missions, including direct Aegis experience.
• Experience with radar system modeling, performance prediction, and data analysis.
• Experience working with the MDA, Navy, and Aegis ecosystem and engaging external stakeholders.
• Experience with digital signal processing and/or digital beamforming.
• Experience with Aegis SPY-1 and MMSP/BSP, including data extraction and analysis for the Aegis SPY-1 radar.
• Familiarity with electronic attack and protection techniques, radar engineering analysis using Blake charts, and RF propagation.
• Strong MATLAB and/or Python skills.
• Graduate-level coursework or hands-on project experience in radar systems and radar signal processing.
• Experience with sensor hardware design, signal processing, tracking algorithms, and/or resource management.
• Experience developing simulation and test tools for sensor analysis.
